Summer Service Mission Trips
2016 Mission to Blue Knob, Pennsylvania
The PYC had a memorable trip to Blue Knob, Pennsylvania where they worked on home repairs and improvements for families in need. The young people and adults completed projects such as painting and building handrails. Fun days were spent at an amusement park and also on a wild whitewater rafting adventure. On the way home the group was able to make a meaningful visit to the Flight 93 Memorial in Somerset County, PA.
2015 Mission to Blue Ridge, Georgia
Our youth joined the Team Effort organization as we traveled to the Appalachian mountain town of Blue Ridge, Georgia to assist families with home repairs. We helped two families with jobs such as painting, building a wheelchair ramp and lots of yard work. Led by an entertaining counselor/ Christian rapper from Team Effort, the young people worked hard each day and joined the camp staff for nightly worship. For a fun diversion the group took a picturesque ride on the steam train Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
2014 Mission to Wilkes County, NC
The Presbyterian Youth made a return trip to the mountains of North Carolina to spend time working with the kids of Ebenezer Children’s Home. Our youth led worship services for the Ebenezer residents and made many new friends. They also helped distribute food at the local food bank. A fun and challenging day was spent hiking and picnicking at Stone Mountain State Park.
